Team strategies are starting to pay off, with a win today, as well as a second place last week. The results come following recent scrutiny that the team was becoming less competitive, but a shift in tactics has shown that despite having an older team, we can still obtain results at the level we’re racing at.
Not only did Skopal finish first today, De Schutter and Laver were both able to finish inside the top 15, showing the strength of the SP Roulers lead out train is as good as any of our competitors.
The win moves us into division 5, which we’re hoping to maintain for the remainder of the season, allowing us to sign up for Classico di Siracusa. A result at a division 5 classic would bookend what’s been a mostly positive season for the team, after successfully obtaining a sprint jersey earlier in the season.
